Johansen Students Holding Carnival 2009: Johansen Schools

Johansen students holding carnival

Johansen High School’s Education of Child Development Academy will be having its annual senior project, a project in which the seniors must put on
an event for a charity, from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the school. This event is a carnival and will be free to enter. All of the proceeds will go to Cricket’s House, a program and shelter for abused, neglected and at-risk children of up to 18 years of age. The program is run by the Children’s Crisis Center. “We chose this charity because it helps children, which is what we learn about, and it’s local,” said Manpreet Kaur, a senior in the Child Development Academy as well as the food manager for the project. Nicole Evans, the Academy’s English teacher, said this is the fourth year the academy has held the fund-raiser. In addition to the activities, there will also be food and smoothies available at the carnival. “I think this year will be better than the other years because we have more activities,” said Naomi Baratta, the graphic arts manager for the project.
