MAYOR of Boston Coun Peter Bedford is urging cyclists of all ages to join him by getting on their bikes for a local charity.
The ride in aid of the Butterfly Hospice Trust takes place along the River Witham on April 25 to coincide with the official launch of the Boston to Lincoln Water Railway. Cyclists have a choice of route from the Witham Tavern to Langrick and back – a total of nine miles – or for the more ambitious, the whole length of the river from Lincoln to Boston. Coun Bedford told the Target he chose the Butterfly Hospice Trust and MacMillan Cancer Support as his mayor’s charities as he and his wife Zita have both lost relatives to cancer. He added: “I hope as many people as possible take part in this event and we can raise a lot of money for this worthwhile cause.” All entrants will all be given a free commemorative T- shirt, free barbecue at the Witham Tavern and there are to be trophies awarded on the day. Parties and events will be taking place on and off the river all that day from Lincoln to Boston to celebrate the official launch of the Water Railway.
