Kids Tee Party Is All For Charity 2009: Alythrsquos Strathmore

Kids tee party is all for charity

ALYTH’S Strathmore Golf Centre are teaming up with local charity Cash for Kids for a fundraising event this Sunday (May 24).
The inaugural Ladies and Gents Scratch and Handicap Open is the brainchild of Tay AM presenter and Strathmore member Ken Macleod, who has presided over a similar tournament in Monifieth every August for the last 15 years &ndash raising in excess of &pound150,000. Last year, Cash for Kids handed-out over &pound230,000 to good causes throughout Perthshire, as well as Angus, Dundee and North East Fife. Ken said: “The new tournament will be totally different from our annual Monifieth event which has been a wonderful success over the years. “That’s a team fun event, but this new tournament at Strathmore is aimed at the more serious golfer,” he said. In addition to the golf, a silent auction will be held to boost the coffers even further. Listing the prizes, Cash for Kids co-ordinator, Lynda Curran, said: “Some fantastic auction items have been donated including a putter signed by Colin Montgomerie and a polo shirt autographed by Sandy Lyle.
“There will be a round of golf for four at Gleneagles and two nights’ bed and breakfast at Cameron House in Loch Lomond,” she said.
