After shooshing up two St Vincent de Paul op shop pieces for Marie Claire, Kirrily Johnston has been inspired to create an entire collection based on the idea.
Kirrily was one of seven designers asked to make something out of old glad rags, the project promoting recycling, reducing waste and raising funds for charity.
The leading fashion designer was so happy with the result that she took it to new heights.
‘I have been inspired to use recycled knitwear in jackets and scarves for the winter ’09 collection which I am working on now,’ Kirrily said.
Kirrily Johnston has always been a fan of the op shop, and still frequents the musty hand-me-down houses for design ideas.
