Lakeshore update

Herald Times Reporter • August 26, 2009 MANITOWOC — Shares of The Manitowoc Company Tuesday closed at $6.51 on the New York Stock Exchange,
down 5 percent. On Monday night, Standard & Poor’s announced it was dropping the cranes and ice manufacturer from its S&P 500. A year ago, shares of The Manitowoc Company traded at $26.08. However, crane sales in the second quarter of 2009 were down more than 30 percent from the second quarter of 2008 and company executives expect a global recessionary economy to slow sales the remainder of the year. MANITOWOC — Bank First National will be closing branches in Newton, New Holstein and Plymouth in late November. Chief Financial Officer Lisa O’Neill said the three branch closings would result in 21 layoffs, including seven in Newton. BFN will continue to operate one branch in Plymouth. A news release from the bank said the nearby presence of other BFN branches with identical services should mean minimal impact on customer convenience. Newton customers will be directed to BFN’s Manitowoc Custer Street location. The branch closings, announced after the bank completed a branch profitability study, will reduce BFN’s total number of branches to 12 in Manitowoc, Brown and Sheboygan counties.
