Teenage Lawman Lynch Foundation hosts Music In The Name of Life Concert for hiv/aids children On May 7, the Lawman Lynch Foundation held a
media and press launch to introduce to the public the foundation’s latest project: Music In The Name of Life to be held on May 30 at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre. Formed in October 2008, the Lawman Lynch Foundation was started by Mr Lawman Lynch and other associates who have seen the need to improve the life of those in need. Since formation, the foundation has hosted one event, ‘Pass on the Love’, which was a feeding programme held in February that touched the lives of over 400 shut-in, and elderly persons in a marginalised community. Music In The Name Of Life Music In The Name Of Life is the foundation’s most recent major project. With assistance from the Kiwanis Club of Constant Spring and The Kingston and St Andrew Action Forum (KSA-AF), the foundation has organised the concert as a fund-raiser for the Martha’s House in Central Kingston which was destroyed by fire earlier this year. Along with the Lawman Lynch Foundation, KSA-AF and the Kiwanis Club of Constant Spring, support for this project has been given by the UWI Guild of Students, Toy Box Charity Foundation and a variety of other charity and media organisations.
It is hoped that the concert will raise JA$2.5 million needed by the Martha’s House to provide medication and other basic necessities for the HIV/AIDS children who were living there and have now been placed in other places of safety. Lynch explained that currently “it costs approximately JA$20,000 each month to provide the medication for one child suffering with HIV/AIDS”. He continues by stating that if we who are healthy and can easily access our basic necessities are feeling the pinch of the recession, imagine those who are ill and have no guarantee of their basic needs.
