While in Melbourne for the Australian Grand Prix, F1 drivers Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen stopped in at The Alfred Hospital for a charity visit.
The racing heroes met heroes of a different kind at the burns unit of the hospital, the survivors, surgeons and nurses of the Victorian bushfires.
‘We can’t imagine what they’ve gone through, but to see the smiles on their faces and how strong they are … it gives me inspiration,’ Hamilton said.
Earlier in the week, a couple of F1 cars put on a show for fans in the bushfire affected region of Kinglake.
Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen used The Alfred Hospital charity visit to personally speak with some of the victims of the fires.
