Local News Jamiebattles on in the US

Get involved CANCER battler Jamie Morgan is set to start his second round of life-saving treatment in America.
Jamie, 28, of Great Ayton, has been flown to the USA for targeted therapy without which he would only have weeks left to live but his family need to raise enough money to cover the &pound100,000 bill. Friends, family and Gazette readers have not stopped fundraising since the You Can Help Jamie Morgan Beat Cancer appeal was officially launched two months ago and the fund already stands at more than &pound37,500. Donations as big as &pound500 have been left at the Gazette office, some from other cancer victims who say they know what Jamie, who has Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, is going through. One man handed over &pound100 saying his brother had beaten the same disease so he wanted to help Jamie do it too. One of Jamie’s most active fundraisers is Hazel Parker of Guisborough. The 33-year-old recently completed the biggest triathlon event in the world in aid of his appeal and she is also in training for the Middlesbrough Tees Pride 10k run, the Great North Swim and the Great North Run.
She said: “I don’t actually know Jamie but when I signed up to do the London Triathlon I decided that as it was quite a challenge I should raise money for a charity.
