UNICEF Ambassador Lucy Liu has spoken in Washington to highlight the problem of child trafficking.
‘With no options and not enough protection the world’s poorest children are being recruited more and more into a gruesome array of practices that include trafficking for sex, soldiering, begging, scavenging, working in factories and on farms, and domestic servitude,’ the actress said.
UNICEF reports that an estimated 1.2 million children are trafficked every year.
UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Lucy Liu also recently produced the documentary, Red Light highlighting trafficking in Cambodia.
