Meridian Energy Smart Meter Charity Challenge

Meridian Energy Smart Meter Charity Challenge Cathedral Square Christchurch

Meridian Energy is getting on its bike for rugby kids next weekend with the inaugural Meridian Energy Smart Meter Charity Challenge &ndash and you
can come down and pedal your way to a discounted power account!
The Smart Meter Charity Challenge will take place on Saturday 13 December in Cathedral Square, Christchurch, from 10.00am – 2.00pm.
Teams from Meridian and Les Mills Christchurch will be competing against each other to raise money for Canterbury Rugby Football Union’s Junior Grade programme and the Meridian Canterbury Rugby Academy.
Each team will cycle as fast as possible on specially modified ‘exercycles’, and every kilowatt-hour burned will mean $1 earned for a CRFU fund for young rugby players.
Funds raised from the challenge will help less privileged kids take to the rugby field next winter in new gear.
You’re also invited to participate in the event! If you come down to Cathedral Square and take up the chance to pedal for 15 minutes, you can earn $1 for every kilowatt-hour burned which can be credited to your Meridian power account or donated to the CRFU fund for young rugby players.
Energy generated at the challenge will be accurately measured using Meridian’s specially-adapted Smart Meters. These electronic meters have already been fitted to more than 80,000 Christchurch homes and can help you save on your power bills by providing accurate power readings.
