INSURANCE firm staff braved mountainous terrain to raise money for Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres.
Twenty workers from Kwik Fit Insurance took part in an annual Monster Bike and Hike last weekend. The arduous 24-hour event began with a 30-mile cycle leaving the picturesque Neptune’s Staircase in Fort William, followed by a 42-mile hike to Inverness. Nursing their blisters, aches and pains, the staff hope to top the £10,000 mark for their efforts in what is the third year the company has taken part in the event. Brendan Devine, group managing director at Kwik Fit Financial Services, said: “Maggie’s is a charity that Kwik Fit Insurance is proud to support and our staff are always up for the challenge of the Monster Bike and Hike. I’m extremely proud of the achievements of everyone who took part this year and of the fantastic sum of money they have raised.” Grant Yuill, Monster event co-ordinator at Maggie’s Centres, said: “Once again we were delighted to welcome the staff from Kwik Fit Insurance to the Monster Bike and Hike. “This event pushes people to their limits and we were very impressed with the efforts of the entire KFI team.
“Planning is already under way for Monster 2010.”
