Motorcycle Ride to Aid VisArts Programming

The Montgomery County Harley Owners Group will join VisArts at Rockville on May 16 for the first “Ride for the Arts,” with registration starting
at 9:30 a.m. The event is intended to raise awareness of the art center’s outreach programs. Starting at 10 a.m., motorcyclists are invited to participate in guided rides around Rockville. The rides will leave VisArts every 15 minutes from 10 to 11 a.m. and include stops for art lessons. A competitive “poker run” ride with art trivia challenges also will start at 10 a.m., with a $150 grand prize. All motorcycle makes and models are welcome. O’Hair Salon and Spa, 424 Main St. in Gaithersburg, presents its second annual charity fashion show at 4:30 p.m. May 17. Proceeds will benefit Manna Food Center, a Montgomery County nonprofit organization that distributes food to low-income families, homeless shelters, soup kitchens and group homes. Tickets are $40 and include a seat at the show, food and one drink. The Writer’s Center in Bethesda will present a program on May 17 on the work of three Spanish-language writers.
Taking part will be poet Luis Alberto Ambroggio, novelist C.M. Mayo and poet-translator Yvette Neisser Moreno.
