Neighborhood chili contest nets 800 for charity

Neighborhood chili contest nets $800 for charity FERRYSBURG — The rain fell and stopped, fell and stopped, and fell and stopped again.
But it didn’t stop the neighbors from coming out Saturday and supporting the Smith’s Bayou Chili Cookoff, a benefit for the Susan G. Komen Passionately Pink for the Cure fund. I did 33 years with the Grand Rapids Fire Department, so I’ve eaten a lot of engine house chili.” Del Corson of Ferrysburg and Mike Macauley of Canton were also judges. Macauley, a carpenter, was doing some work for a friend down the street. “Someone came knocking on the door, looking for a judge,” he said. Click to enlarge
