No Deal On Cost Of Policing Swans Matches 2009: Police Stadium

No deal on cost of policing Swans matches

POLICE and stadium bosses have still not reached agreement on the cost of policing football matches at the Liberty Stadium &mdash despite the new
season already having kicked off. A big turn-out is expected at the ground on Saturday for Swansea City’s first home Championship match of the new campaign against Middlesbrough, but police and the club are still wrangling over the bill, despite months of talks. It is thought that one of the sticking points between the two sides is how far the policing “footprint” around the stadium extends into neighbouring streets. Temporary Without a deal in place, a temporary arrangement to cover home games is in force. A South Wales Police spokesman said: “We can confirm that negotiations remain ongoing. “While discussions continue, policing services for forthcoming fixtures will be paid for at a cost agreed by both parties.
“We look forward to working with Swansea City, the Ospreys and the Liberty Stadium and we wish them a successful season.”
