Friday, 28 August 2009 ADRENALIN junkies young and old can take part in the largest event a cancer charity has held in Cumbria for
a number of years. People who fancy a hair-raising exploit will have the chance to abseil the 120ft down the side of the building while raising money for the cancer charity. Zoe Casson, community fundraising manager for Cumbria and North Lancashire, hopes the event will raise about 10,000 for the charity. She said: It is the largest event we have held for years. Already people have signed up and we are hoping to raise about 10,000. This would cover the cost of 500 nursing hours for terminally ill cancer patients in the area who have chosen to spend their final days in their own home instead of hospital, which would be fantastic. It is also the first time the Cumbria and North Lancashire fundraising office has opened such a daring event to people as young as 11-years-old.
Miss Casson added: We wanted to open the event to as many people as possible including the younger ones as it will be something really daring for them. We only have places for 120 people and we are expecting them to fill up quickly, I would advise people to sign up quickly.
