Not Too Late To Support Relay For Life 2009: Nathan Paull

Not too late to support Relay for Life

Nathan Paull 18th August 2009 IF you aren’t in a Relay for Life team this weekend, you can still help out.
The annual event, organised by the Cancer Council Queensland, has attracted over 50 teams from the region, but event chairperson Leonie Hills said it was not too late to support the charity relay. “We are encouraging members in the community to support teams who have already registered to ensure they can raise as much money as they can for this great cause,†she said. On Saturday night, teams of 10 to 15 will challenge themselves to take turns to keep a baton moving in a relay style walk or run at Chanel College oval overnight. Cancer Council Queensland has set a fundraising target of $155,000 for the Gladstone event. Although the notion of walking around an oval all night may sound ludicrous to some, Cancer Council Queensland said the relay helps achieve some great goals.
According to the charity group, on average every five minutes an Australian is diagnosed with cancer.
