JAZZ fans are all set to descend on an historic town for two days of top-quality music.
Odiham Jazz Weekend takes place in the Chalk Pit, off Alton Road, next Saturday August 29 and Sunday 30. A jazz party on Saturday from 6.30pm-11pm will feature the music of Frank Holder and Lee Gibson. A legend in London showbiz circles, Frank began his career as the original vocalist with the Johnny Dankworth Seven, Britain’s premier jazz group at the time. After a highly successful period with the band, Frank decided to strike out on his own but not before they had found a suitable replacement – Cleo Laine. A fabulous percussionist, Frank headlined at the London Palladium a number of times in the 1960s and performed with the late great Nat King Cole.
She has performed around the world and can be heard regularly on BBC Radio.
