OLYMPIC gold medallist and world champion cyclist Victoria Pendleton MBE has lent her support to Notts women getting on their bikes to fight breast
cancer. The cycling star, who came top of the leader board in Beijing for the Women’s Individual Sprint Event and retained her UCI Track World Championship sprint title this year, is an ambassador for Pedal It Pink. The fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Campaign will see hundreds of women cycle around the National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepont clad in their pinkest outfits. The event is only the second one to be held in the country. Victoria said: “The first Pedal It Pink was a fantastic success and I’m so thrilled to be supporting the second event in Nottingham. “I agreed to become an ambassador because it’s such a good cause and women’s charities do such a great job of fundraising.” Victoria said she was delighted there was now a cycling event for women as well as the more usual runs.
She said: “I hope it becomes a familiar event on the charity calendar as there’s lots of running events.”
