Oprah Winfrey Another StarStudded Party 2009: Media Mogul

Oprah Winfrey Another StarStudded Party

I just got word that the media mogul is looking at celebrating the 10th anniversary of her magazine, O, next May with a star-studded
concert at New York’s iconic Radio City Music Hall. There’s also talk of Ms. Winfrey closing down the city’s West Side Highway, or at least a portion of it, for a charity event to coincide with the festivities. Winfrey launched the magazine in April 2000 with a fete at New York’s Metropolitan Pavilion. Among the guests were… The highlight of the evening included a performance by Tina Turner, whose backup singers included former E.R. actress Gloria Reuben. If there’s anyone who knows how to throw a party it is Oprah. Her Legends Ball in 2006 capped off a three-day affair that Winfrey held at her $50 million Montecito, Calif., estate. She honored 25 of her idols, including Maya Angelou, Rosa Parks, Aretha Franklin, Alice Walker, Diana Ross, Patti LaBelle and Lena Horne. There were 200 waiters for 362 guests, plus a 26-piece orchestra!
And let’s not forget her 50th birthday parties—yes, she had more than one—back in January 2004.
