The Silver Clef Awardsbenefit was star-studded with great artists from both the golden age of rock and the pop era, as the members of legendary band Queen were named Ambassadors of Rock.
The prestigious honour acknowledged four decades of music, and also the bands ongoing musical work for AIDS charities since the death of Freddy Mercury. Take That artist Gary Barlow won the Silver Clef Award itself and promptly handed over 50 000 to the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy charity that promotes health and well-being through music programs for those in need.
Veteran band Madness received the Icon award, and Beach Boy Brian Wilson won the international award, but Queen were rapt with their Silver Clef Ambassadors of Rock title.
