Rally Champ Allen Goes Back To Loughgall 2009: Wednesday 20

Rally champ Allen goes back to Loughgall

Wednesday, 20 May 2009 Former Northern Ireland rally champion Glenn Allen goes back to his roots to take part in this weekend’s Loughgall Festival
of Motorsport. Allen won the NI title in 2007 driving his WRC Toyota Corolla but has elected to take a back seat this season. However, he made his name originally at the wheel of Ford Escorts and on Saturday, the Cookstown driver turns back the clock to take part in the North Armagh Club’s big charity event. Heading the entry list for the rally challenge are the Porsches of Keith McIvor and former Ulster Rally winner Dessie McCartney with Seamus O’Connell starting at No.3 and leading an array of Ford Escorts. The Festival takes place within Loughgall Country Park where gates open at 8.30am and the admission fee of £10 includes a free colour programme and free car parking. The rally challenge event begins at 9.30am. Meanwhile, Templepatrick teenager Wayne Boyd — the British Formula Ford champion — was fourth fastest in testing at Rockingham for the British Formula Three round at the end of the month. Boyd was less than two-10ths of a second slower than Japanese pacesetter Daisuke Nakajima.
