Relay For Life Comes To Heavenly Farms 2009: 3031 Event

Relay for Life comes to Heavenly Farms

The May 30-31 event will mark the first time that a Relay for Life event has been held in East Brunswick.
It will run from 7 p.m. May 30 until 8 a.m. the following day, at Heavenly Farms, Dunhams Corner Road. Michelle Daichman, an event organizer for the charity organization, said she is hoping about 400 people will turn out. aichman said East Brunswick was chosen for the event because it’s a large community with very involved citizens. She also noted how there are many medical offices in the township, and that the society has seen many people from East Brunswick show up to other cancer awareness events. She also noted how there are major cancer institutions nearby. In addition to the relay itself, there will be games, music and other activities for residents to enjoy when they are not walking or running the track. The event is a perfect opportunity for local Scout troops, as well as community organizations and church groups, organizers said. At 7:30 p.m., there will be a survivor dinner held, and the cancer survivors will kick off the event by taking the first lap, Daichman said. Organizers urged members of the public to support the event in celebration of the lives of those who have battled cancer, and as a way to remember loved ones lost to the disease. Also, many participate to do their part in the fight to end cancer.
