In addition to raising funds for charity, the Leather & Latex event is built around networking.
Riders and runners start at the same time from Swanwick Marina and use dedicated courses that should bring everyone back for a hot meal and the informal networking in Velsheda’s restaurant in the marina complex at 21.00. The evening will cost £15 a head to cover the administration, drinks and hot meal. Personal and company entries can be made – Premier, for one, has some of its head office staff running. For the motorcyclists, Triumph is supporting the event with 15 machines that can be reserved at a cost of £20 each for the ride. Riders who want to use their own machines are more than welcome. Runners and riders will assemble at Swanwick Marina at 18.30 for a 19.00 start. Changing facilities will be available and there is secure free car parking on site. The event is built around networking opportunities will raise funds for charity – the Bikers are working for Riders for Health (www.riders.org), while the runners are working for the RNLI (www.rnli.org). ‘We’ve run a charity event for the last few years, with the aim of doing something different and constructive during an evening at the Southampton Boat Show,’ said Andrew Sims of Cooney Marine. ‘As well as providing good networking opportunities for exhibitors and marine industry members, it also achieves a constructive outcome for the charities that are supported.’ The Bike Night/Fun Run is supported by Premier Marinas, Boating Business and Triumph Motorcycles.
