Sebring High School art fundraiser about more than just pottery SEBRING — With the help of the community, Sebring High School art students hope
to raise $5,000 through Thursday’s “Soup up the Arts” program. The money they raise will be donated to the family of 14-month-old Branson Thayer to help with his medical bills, and also to college scholarships for art students. The event will be in the Sebring High School cafeteria from 4-7 p.m. and is open to the public. Tickets are $10. “Come in, grab a bowl to keep, and we actually have a full dinner soup, bread, desert and drink,” said SHS art teacher Steve Van Dam. Food is coming from “a million different places,” said SHS art club president Emily Hendges, a junior. Donors include individuals, local eateries such as Dee’s, Mae Lee’s, Chicanes and the Blue Crab, and all the way up to larger chain restaurants like Outback, Red Lobster and Village Inn.
“There has been a lot of help from the community even at this time,” Hendges said.
