Skydiver With A Fear Of Heights 2009: Fiftyyearold Mick

Skydiver with a fear of heights

Fifty-year-old Mick Hill from Cowes, Isle of Wight is about to embark on a 10,000 foot tandem sky dive in an attempt to raise
thousands of pounds for Cowes-based maritime charity, UKSA, to help fund its work with young people. Mick Hill, skydiver to be from UKSA Friends, work colleagues and family have all contributed so far, but to realise his fundraising target of £5,000, Mick needs to reach out to an audience beyond friends and family. He has also created an online training spoof video to promote the event, which can be viewed via the web link below. Mick commented: “We hope anyone watching the film will have a bit of a laugh at my expense. We’ve created the video to be a ‘Rocky’ spoof but it has a serious message as well, because it promotes what I am preparing for and points viewers to my donation and supporters page. During 2008, UKSA trained over 6,400 people and was awarded the South East Prince’s Trust Innovative Partner Award. The charity has enhanced the lives of many young people and undertakes extensive fundraising activities to provide personal development opportunities to all. UKSA is also a globally recognised professional training establishment, training people in watersports and yachting to the highest level. Its graduates include world-renowned sailor Dee Caffari. The company is also proud to have Ellen MacArthur as an ambassador.
