THE parents of a little boy who died tragically last year were joined by friends and family at a special fundraising night in his
name. Lachlan Blair Boyle was born 11 weeks early and was in hospital for the first five and a half months of his life. He had a lot of health problems as a result of his prematurity and spent much of his short life in hospital before he passed away in October last year just short of his second birthday. Lachlan’s mum and dad, Sharon Blair and Jeff Boyle, from Gardenhall, described Lachlan as the “best wee boy in the world,” a sentiment shared by his grandparents, Moira and Robert Boyle, who helped organise the charity event in Lachlan’s name. The Centre One Club was the location for a successful fundraising evening last Friday when family members, organisers and guests raised £1300 in aid of Sense Scotland and CHAS, the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland. Lachlan’s mum Sharon, 37, said: “On several occasions, when we were told to expect the worst, we used the Children’s Hospice, Robin House, in Balloch. Robin House provides respite care, terminal care and bereavement support to families who have a child, or children with a life limiting condition and who are unlikely to reach adulthood. “In between those worst times we also used to visit Robin House at weekends, which allowed us to relax for a few days knowing that Lachlan was receiving the best of care from the nurses and care team. I don’t know how we would have coped without Robin House.”
She explained that, despite Lachlan’s health problems and special needs, the family tried to lead as normal a life as possible.
