Struggling pet owners could get financial help

The Salt Lake Tribune When economic hardship hits Utah’s pet owners, a new nonprofit organization aims to keep their animals out of shelters.
The event, known as “Prints for Paws,” is the charity’s first fundraiser. It will feature the paintings, prints, sculptures and jewelry of Utah artists. “Tough economic times can translate into very emotionally difficult decisions for pet owners if they can’t afford food and basic needs for their pets,” said Shawni Larrabee, director of Salt Lake County Animal Services. Utah FACES offers “solutions for pet owners so that pets stay with their owners and don’t end up at a shelter.”
