May 28, 2009 Plans are under way for the Fifth Annual Jon Grant Signature Classic charity golf event at the Farmington Hills Golf Club
on Wednesday, June 24. Preliminaries, including registration, continental breakfast, range practice, and putting contests begin at 9:30 a.m. The real fun (the shotgun start) begins at 11 a.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit community youth programs supported by the Exchange Club of Farmington/Farmington Hills. The event is named in honor of Jon Grant, a former Farmington Hills mayor, 14-year city council member, and longtime community activist who passed away in August 2003. “This is not your ordinary golf event. Just like Jon, it is hilariously fun, totally unique, and dedicated to supporting our community and its young people,” said Steve Brock, Farmington Hills City Manager and co-chair of the event. “The response for the previous four golf events was fantastic and I’m sure the fifth annual golf classic will be even better. We know times are tough, but it’s exactly for that reason we need to raise funds to support youth programs of all sorts in our community.” Honorary Chair Deborah Grant added, “Jon would be very pleased and honored to know his name is attached to such a worthy cause.
On behalf of my family and me, we want to thank the Exchange Club and the entire community for carrying on Jon’s commitment and legacy.”
