Hong Kong’s Matilda International Hospital, Annual Sedan Chair Race fundraising event.
This is the most important fundraising event inspired by Matilda International Hospital to raise funds to aid local charities.
The event is enjoyed by businesses, schools, clubs and organisations.
Many of these groups enter sponsored teams that carry a sedan chair around the Peak following one of two different routes.
The race dates back to 1970 when an innovative nurse came up with the idea to raise funds to help the hospital that was threatened with closure. Today the race raises over HK$2 million each year for various local charities.
