Did you know that newborn elephants can weigh around 200-265 pounds (90 to 120 kg) and are about 3 feet (1 meter) tall already? They can grow up to 13 feet (4m) tall and weigh up to 15,000 pounds (6803kg)! Recognized as the “gentle giants” of the wild, they are intelligent, calm, compassionate, and nurturing. This October 4-5, get to see the amazing elephant sculptures of the Stomp Round Leicester for the last time at the grounds of LOROS Hospice. Aside from these sculptures, there will also be other family-friendly activities at The Elephants’ Big Day Out- Farewell Weekend such as face-painting and carnival games to keep everyone entertained. Funds raised from this event will go to LOROS, whose mission is to “enhance the quality of life of adult patients with cancer, progressive neurological conditions and end-stage organ failure for whom curative treatment is no longer possible.”
4th October – 5th October
LOROS Hospice
Join us at LOROS Hospice for a free, family fun day – and this year, it’s extra special, because the Elephants are coming!
In a very special Big Day Out mashup, you’ll also have the very last chance to say farewell to the 40 giant Elephants and 82 Baby Elephants from the Stomp Round Leicester trail, all gathered together for one final time.
As well as the amazing sculptures, enjoy a variety of exciting outdoor activities, delicious food and craft stalls, carnival games and plenty more. Our face painters will use their talents to transform you into a beautiful butterfly or bedazzle yourself with a glitter temporary tattoo!
There will also be an opportunity to grab some official Stomp Round Leicester merchandise as well as meet some of the artists who designed the incredible sculptures.
With elephant numbers declining due to habitat loss and poaching, it’s good to showcase these giant creatures to children and the young at heart so that they can appreciate their beauty. Get your tickets to the The Elephants’ Big Day Out- Farewell Weekend here now and have a stomping good time while supporting a great cause!
