At present, more than 333 million people worldwide have little to no access to clean, healthy, and affordable food. War and violence, as well as climate crisis, are some of the factors contributing to this high number. Part of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 is zero hunger. How is it possible to achieve this with the current trend of hunger globally?
Second Harvest is Canada’s largest food rescue organization whose vision is “No Waste. No Hunger.” By working with different food businesses, they “rescue” clean and edible surplus food and redistribute it to various charities and non-profit organizations across the country. The work that they do entails a lot of cost and so on May 26, they’ll be hosting The Rescue Party at Meridian Hall, Toronto. The Rescue Party promises to be a night of delicious food, premium wine, and amazing music, for the purpose of fighting hunger across the country.
When: Sunday, May 26, 2024, 6PM
Where: Meridian Hall, 1 Front St E, Toronto, ON M5E 1B2.
On May 26, 2024, join us for the second annual Rescue Party! An exquisite culinary experience and special concert featuring a surprise musical performance.
With dishes from more than 30 of Toronto’s most exciting restaurants the Rescue Party is a night of fine dining, music, and elegance all for a good cause.
Proceeds from The Rescue Party are put directly towards food rescue and redistribution through Second Harvest, Canada’s largest food rescue organization. While millions of Canadians struggle to put food on the table and the harmful effects of food waste contribute significantly to climate change, it’s more important than ever to ensure surplus edible food ends up where it belongs: On plates instead of in landfills.
Ticket prices include unlimited access to signature dishes crafted by Toronto’s most celebrated culinary experts, along with premium wine, spirit, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages.
