The Governor of Victoria, Professor David de Kretser, A.C. will host A Touch of Africa – The Tomorrow Foundation Ball, this August.
The Ball will be a spectacular night of tribal entertainment with a performance by South Sudan Musica, music from DJ Luke of Advance, a premiere screening of the short film Nomads, a Sudanese and Kakuma Refugee Camp photographic exhibition by Matthew Albert and a silent auction and raffle.
The three course dining, dinner and drinks experience will be a formal occasion with just the right amount, a touch in fact, of Africa to open up cultural exchange and exploration.
Proceeds from the ball will go to The Tomorrow Foundation Growing Friendships Project, partnering with Women for Women International to establish sustainable vocational training and small business programs for Sudanese women.
The Tomorrow Foundation works with Sudanese people both locally and globally, and is currently expanding its activities after the end of a 21 year civil war between the Sudanese Government and the Sudan Peoples Liberation Army (SPLA).
A Touch of Africa – The Tomorrow Foundation Ball is on August 19 at the Regal Ballroom, Northcote. Tickets are $95.
