Get involved A TEAM of familiar faces from the world of sport have signed up for the EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon.
They will all be running with ex-Wolves and England footballer Geoff Thomas to raise money for his leukaemia foundation. Fellow Wolves legend Don Goodman will join ex-England player and TV presenter John Salako and former Watford manager Ady Boothroyd. From the world of cycling, Geoff has roped in previous Tour de France winner Stephen Roche and Paris Roubaix winner Magnus Backstedt. The Geoff Thomas Foundation (GTF) is one of the event’s official nominated charities for 2009. Geoff was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2003 and was treated at University Hospital Birmingham.
“To overcome such a serious illness and then have the drive to take on so many sporting challenges to raise money is something really special,” he said.
