Track Team Competes Around The Country 2009: Coach Stanley

Track team competes around the country

Coach Stanley Redwine competed at a lot of places across the country during his collegiate track career in the early ‘80s.
One of the places he remembers best was the Penn Relays in Philadelphia. Redwine competed and won in the distance medley event and has one of the watches to prove it. “I’ve been at Penn, I’ve raced at Penn and had a great experience there,†Redwine said. “We definitely want to thank Lew [Perkins] for the opportunity to allow some of the team to go out there and get the same experience I got when I was there.†Freshman hurdler Keith Hays races through a heat of the Men’s 110-meter hurdles April 18 during the Kansas Relays. Photo by Ryan McGeeney Just one week after competing at home in the Kansas Relays, the Kansas track and field team will be all over the country this weekend. While some members of the team participate in the Penn Relays, others are heading to the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. Still others are attending the Nebraska Open in Lincoln, Neb. “Everyone needs to compete and we didn’t want the weekend off for our athletes,†Redwine said.
For the Penn Relays, Kansas will send its relay teams to compete in the 4×400 along with some of its sprinters for the hurdles events. The men’s 4×400 relay team will be made up of senior Jarrell Rollins, junior Reggie Carter, sophomore Keron Toussaint and freshman Keith Hayes.
