This half-day training aims to enable professionals who work in Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham with young people, to use the Sexual Behaviours Traffic Light tool effectively. For professionals wishing to join outside of these boroughs there is a 60 fee.
The Traffic Light Tool is an innovative resource. It helps professionals who work with children and young people identify, assess and respond appropriately to sexual behaviours. Based on a well-tested model developed in Australia, it provides a common tool and language that all professionals can use to assess to respond and sexual behaviours.
By the end of the training participants will have gained knowledge and understanding of:
Sexual behaviours, safeguarding and the law as it relates to children and young people
How their own values may impact on decision making and how these relate to the law and professional guidelines
How to use the online traffic lights tool to categorise sexual behaviours, to increase understanding of healthy sexual development and distinguish this from harmful behaviour
How to identify, assess and respond appropriately to sexual behaviours
How to integrate the tool into daily practice
