VARIETY CLUB CELEBRITY CHRISTMAS CAROL CONCERT 2008
(Friday, 12th, December: Southwark Cathedral)
TV and radio celebrities, an internationally famous symphony orchestra and finalists in the Songs of Praise School Choir of the Year 2008 competition will give everyone in striking distance of Southwark Cathedral on Friday 12th December the opportunity to be part of a very special carol concert the perfect way to start the Christmas season, and a wonderful family night out. Tickets are selling fast!
The celebrities taking part will include Holby Citys Robert Powell, Dalziel and Pascoes Colin Buchanan, Watchdogs and Radio 5 Lives Nicky Campbell, the legendary gospel singer Patti Boulaye (pictured) and, Steffan Rhys Hughes, one of Wales brightest young singing stars.
Between Southwarks own Southbank Sinfonia and the Twyford Gospel Choir, almost 100 top class musicians will fill the Cathedral with the most magnificent sound and its not often you get a chance to sing along to accompaniment like that!

This will be a wonderful heart-warming opportunity to celebrate and get the spirit of Christmas in this beautiful setting. More importantly, the Candle-lit concert will raise vital funds for the many thousands of children and young people that Variety supports throughout the U.K.
Over 100 children and young people that Variety Club regularly supports will also be in attendance.
Tickets for the evening start from 25 for adults and 20 for adults with children, and are available to all the general public. A VIP celebrity reception with mulled wine and mince pies after the concert will also take place.

The Variety Club Childrens Charity celebrates its 60th anniversary throughout 2009.
Southbank Sinfonia, based in St. Johns Waterloo, was created to ensure work for some of the top classical musicians graduating in Britain each year. It has won acclaim both in the UK and beyond.
The Twyford Gospel Choir were finalists in the 2008 Songs of Praise School Choir of the Year competition, and are already through the first two rounds of this years competition.
Since winning New Faces, Patti Boulaye has starred in a number of West End musicals, including Hair and Jesus Christ Superstar, is a huge supporter of charities and has held her place as a highly respected and popular leading gospel singer in the UK for three decades.
Aged only 14 years, Steffan Rhys Hughes has won more than 50 first place medals at Eisteddfods and other festivals, and has sung with Bryn Terfel, Dennis ONeill and Rhys Merrion. More recently he performs a duet with Katherine Jenkins on her latest album Sacred Arias.
