The Ms Society has put out the challenge to those daring enough to trek to far-off, distant lands and Walk the Great Wall of China.
As part of their MS Challenge series, held in partnership with Intrepid Travel, you could find yourself in the winter withered spring mountains of China with a bunch of people who are just as crazy, adventurous and socially conscious as you are.
But as journeys are never the way of the workless ones, you’ll havea bit of heavy lifting to do to get there. That is heavy lifting from the side pocket.
It’s $500 to register and you must raise at least $5000 to participate in any of the Challenge series of events.
But after you’ve made that solid commitment, MS will organise your trek including flights and accommodation, transfers, ground transport, most meals, equipment and an Intrepid Travel tour leader.
You can also, as part of the series, ride through Mongolia or Cambodia or you can join in The Amazing Race.
The Great Wall walk is a thirteen day trip, with a six day walk starting in Beijing. Along the way you’ll get the chance to stay in traditional style Chinese accomodations, visit the Terracotta army and the Forbidden City and walk through areas of China rarely seen by other tourists.
To Walk the Great Wall of China with the MS Society you need to be able to travel between 18 and 30 May.
Just make sure you remember to pack some determination, stamina and a little box of emergency sultanas with a kiss on the forehead from Mum.
