WalMart Did That 2009: Sunday Photograph

WalMart did that

Sunday photograph by David Frank Dempsey Mark Phillips with Enderle Construction talked about the construction of a Wal-Mart decorated home during the Shadow Valley
2009 Showcase of Homes in Rogers on Saturday. With Wal-Mart Stores Inc. headquartered in our own back yard, northwest Arkansas residents tend to have a better feel for the inner working of the world’s largest retailer than the rest of the country. Even so, those who stepped inside the front door of 7020 Shadow Valley Road, one of the newest homes in the gated Shadow Valley community in Rogers, on Friday and Saturday seemed stunned. “There’s no way everything in this house is from Wal-Mart,” said one visitor, halfway through her tour of the second annual Shadow Valley Showcase of Homes. “Everything” questioned another, as she walked in the door. “Really Wal-Mart” Yes, everything. At least in this particular house, designed and built by Enderle Construction. The Shadow Valley Showcase of Homes, which runs 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and continues next weekend, features new homes by each of the seven exclusive builders in the private subdivision. Each home was fully furnished and decorated by a different company, the likes of Pottery Barn, I.O. Metro and Wal-Mart among them. And proceeds from tickets sold to the event, which in addition to the showcase includes a charity golf tournament and the Taste of Northwest Arkansas, Ozark Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
The 3,600-square-foot, two-story home at 7020 Shadow Valley Road, was entirely outfitted by products found at Wal-Mart’s physical stores or online selection.
