The Moncton Wildcats are progressing with plans for the Wildcats Alumni Charity Classic.
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League club has announced the first six players who will participate in their golf tournament on June 26 at the Memramcook Golf Club. They are Josh Tordjman, Andrew MacDonald, Nathan Welton, Stephane Goulet, Adam Pineault and Christian Gaudet. Each year the proceeds will go toward a different charity or community cause. Proceeds from this year’s event will go to the Luc Bourdon Foundation in memory of the former Wildcats defenceman who died in a motorcycle accident last May near his hometown of Shippagan. Bourdon played for Moncton’s squad which captured the QMJHL championship in 2005-05 and advanced to the Memorial Cup final. The Wildcats charity golf tournament has openings for 36 teams of four players and there will be a Wildcats alumni member on each team. Registration fee is $100 per person or $400 per team and this includes a round of golf, prizes and buffet dinner. A live auction that’s open to the public will take place following the dinner. To register, send your name to infomoncton-wildcats.com or schurman.billmoncton-wildcats.com. You may also call the team’s office at 382-5555.
Tordjman, MacDonald, Goulet, Pineault and Gaudet are all now playing professional hockey. Welton is toiling in the university ranks for the Acadia Axeman. All were teammates of Bourdon in Moncton in 2005-06.
