Have you ever wondered what it’s like to build your own raft and race it against others? Have you dreamt of singing Hans Zimmer’s “Hoist the Colours” with your fellow mates as you row your raft? If you live around Llandaff, Cardiff, here’s your chance to do so! City Hospice will be having their annual Charity Raft Race on June 9 at the Llandaff Rowing Club. It doesn’t matter what your raft is made of, for as long as it floats and it’s easy to steer. Aside from the first three finishers, there will also be an award for the best-designed raft so feel free to release your creativity on your raft. Proceeds from this exciting race will go to City Hospice, a charity who has been “offering palliative care in the community for people with life-limiting conditions” for 40 years.
City Hospice’s annual Charity Raft Race is making a splash once again on Sunday 09th June at Llandaff Rowing Club.
Get ready to form your team, build your own raft and race from Llandaff Rowing Club upstream for over half a mile, and then back down to the clubhouse for the finishing line. This day is set to be filled with fun and excitement all whilst raising vital funds to support patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
This year marks a significant milestone as we celebrate our 40th anniversary. To commemorate this special occasion, we are offering a discounted entry fee of£40 for teams (usually £75). Gather your friends, family, or colleagues and form a team of between four to ten and join in on the fun!
Team trophies for the first three rafts will be awarded plus a trophy for the best-designed raft!
Participating in the Charity Raft Race isn’t just about the thrill of the competition; it’s also about making a meaningful impact in our community. We kindly ask each team to raise a minimum of £400, which will directly support City Hospice in providing vital care to the people of Cardiff.
Buddha once said, “Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened.
