Every year, thousands of homeless and abandoned animals need shelter, medical care, and a second chance at finding a loving home. Animal welfare organizations play a vital role in rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming pets while promoting responsible pet ownership.
National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT) has been helping vulnerable animals for more than five decades. Since its first rehoming centre opened in Hertfordshire, the charity has rescued, rehabilitated, and rehomed thousands of cats, dogs, rabbits, and guinea pigs. To celebrate this milestone and support its ongoing mission, the charity is hosting a special fundraising event.
The NAWT Hertfordshire Charity Gala will take place on Friday, September 4, 2026. Hosted by distinguished British actor Peter Egan, this black-tie evening will mark 55 years of animal rescue while bringing together supporters for a night of celebration and community. Funds raised from the gala will help provide rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming services for homeless pets, ensuring more animals receive the care they need before finding permanent, loving homes.
