According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer, skin cancers are among the most commonly diagnosed cancers worldwide. With incidence and mortality rates increasing yearly, raising awareness and supporting research have never been more important. On November 15, Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital will hold the H.U.G.S Charity Fun Run 2026 to help drive awareness on skin cancer. Get your 6KM in at Straits Quay, Penang, and run across the Andaman Bridge while taking in a beautiful sunrise. Funds raised will go to Mount Miriam Compassionate Support Fund, which provides support to cancer patients in need.

Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital will be bringing back the H.U.G.S Charity Fun Run 2026 on 15 November 2026, with a 6KM route starting from Straits Quay, Penang.

H.U.G.S stands for Hope, Understanding & Group Support, reflecting the event’s aim of bringing the community together in support of cancer patients in need. This year’s run is also held in conjunction with Skin Cancer Awareness.

One of the highlights of this year’s route is the opportunity for participants to run across Andaman Bridge, offering a different way to experience the area during the early morning run.

To help prevent skin cancer, the Skin Cancer Foundation encourages everyone to limit sun exposure between 10AM and 4PM, use a broad-spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher every day, and perform monthly head-to-toe skin examinations.
