Melbourne University Relay For Life 2026: Walking Together for a Cancer-Free Future

Melbourne’s university community comes together for a meaningful day of remembrance, celebration and fundraising for people affected by cancer.

Cancer touches lives across every community, affecting not only those diagnosed but also the families, friends and carers who stand beside them. Cancer Council Victoria works to reduce the impact of cancer through research funding, prevention programs, advocacy and support services for people affected by the disease.

On Saturday, November 21, 2026, the University of Melbourne community will come together for Melbourne University Relay For Life, a fundraising event celebrating cancer survivors, remembering loved ones and supporting those currently facing cancer. The event invites students, staff and community members to unite through a shared commitment to making a difference.

Welcome to Melbourne University’s first Relay For Life!

Relay For Life is a fun and moving experience that raises vital funds for the Cancer Council’s research, prevention and support services.

Relay is a chance for the community to recognise and celebrate local cancer survivors, those going through a cancer experience and their carers, to honour and remember loved ones lost and to raise money to help save more lives.

Relay For Life events turn walking into a powerful symbol of solidarity, with participants taking turns on the track to represent the ongoing journey faced by people affected by cancer. The Melbourne University event will also feature activities, entertainment and a candlelight ceremony to honour those touched by the disease.

Funds raised will support Cancer Council Victoria’s work towards a future with less cancer and better support for everyone affected. Find out how to take part and support the cause here.
