Saturday, 15 August 2009 WALKERS can put their best foot forward and raise money for charity.
The Rotary Club of Windermere is holding its annual walks in and around Windermere, on Saturday September 12. The family event offers people a choice of 3.5, five or ten-mile walks and the chance to raise money for any charity of their choice. They all start at St Anne’s School in Windermere and cover Orrest Head which was one of Wainwright’s favourite viewpoints. Marie Curie Cancer Care is supporting the event and wants participants to take part and help raise money for the charity. Zoe Casson, community fund-raising manager for the charity, which provides free nursing care for terminally ill cancer patients in the area, said: “These are all fantastic walks at a wonderful time of the year.
“I am fully behind the event as all monies raised by walkers who chose Marie Curie comes to the charity.
