A GROUP of final-year students at Taylor’s College School of Hospitality and Tourism raised more than RM8,000 for the Haemophilia Society of Malaysia through
a project that attracted not only college students but also the public. The four-day event, which included a fashion show, aimed to hone the management and fund-raising skills of the students involved. Themed “Lifestyle”, the event focused on three elements &mdash health, wellbeing, and nature. According to project manager Meera Gopal Raj, the Haemophilia Society was chosen because of its focus on good health and wellness. “What better way to spend the money we raised than to help people become healthier. Haemophiliacs are born with the disorder and treatment is their only option. “All we can hope for is that the money can help make them more comfortable,” she said. Society president Aris Hashim expressed his gratitude for the contribution which will be used for the society’s other activities.
Haemophilia is a bleeding disorder that prevents blood from clotting properly. It is treated by replacing the missing clotting factor in the blood via an injection.
