Aberdeen Volunteers Head to Ben Nevis to Busk for Charity

On the 22nd of August 2009 a group of local volunteers will scale Scotland’s highest mountain carrying a motley collection of instruments before busking
from the peak of Ben Nevis. The stunt will be carried out with the intention of raising funds and awareness for the Oxjam Aberdeen 09 Music Festival. The group of local volunteers and musicians will be joined by fundraisers from around the country, with some coming from as far afield as Leicester to take part. Oxjam Aberdeen 09 is part of the nation-wide Oxjam music festival – a volunteer-led fundraising initiative in aid of Oxfam GB. It is a month long music festival organised in venues across the country by ordinary people doing something fun and giving the money to Oxfam.
Scott Hamilton, Oxjam Aberdeen Regional Manager, says: “Oxfam is an amazing charity – they do great work all over the world and use passionate people to create lasting change. This latest quirk is unique idea that has already generated lots of interest and some great support. The musicians are looking forward to the challenge and looking forward to performing on one of the most scenic locations in Scotland. “ He continued:
