Shrimper injured off Terrebonne coast HOUMA — A 51-year-old man was airlifted Thursday by the U.S.
Coast Guard from a shrimp boat 40 miles south of Point au Fer Island off the coast of western Terrebonne. The Coast Guard received a call at 9:30 a.m. from the captain of the New Orleans-based shrimp boat, Joan Maria 4, reporting that a crew member had crushed his arm while trying to tie another boat alongside the vessel, according to a Coast Guard press release. Bui’s condition was not immediately available. HOUMA — Early registration for a 5,000-meter run to benefit Terrebonne public schools ends at midnight tonight. The Terrebonne Foundation for Academic Excellence 5k Run for Excellence will begin at 6 p.m. May 9, in downtown Houma. Terrebonne General Medical Center rehab specialists will lead a warm-up at 5:40 p.m. People with walkers or in wheelchairs are encouraged to participate. A kids-only race is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Participants can also register that day beginning at 3 p.m. at Courthouse Square.
