Bobby Hitt BMW Charity ProAm Swings Into Action To Help The Upstate 2009: Spring Arrived

Bobby Hitt BMW Charity ProAm swings into action to help the Upstate

Spring has arrived so it should not be surprising to Upstate South Carolina residents that it is once again time for the BMW Charity
Pro-Am golf tournament. Being the ninth year of the tournament, we are all reminded that this event gives us a special opportunity to provide service to help our communities. And, this year, in this uncertain economy we should all be persuaded to pull together to help support significant local needs. The BMW Charity Pro-Am is a unique tournament because its proceeds will go to more than 70 charities that work diligently to improve the quality of life for those they serve and the community at large. Yes, the economy also has affected the golf tournament and some changes have been made to counter those effects. For the first time in the golf tournament’s history, each celebrity participating in the tournament has agreed to donate their appearance fees. We thank the celebrities for recognizing our local efforts and their willingness to give the tournament and the charities a jumpstart to meet our goals. Yes, it is a fundraising event for charities but it also is an event that showcases Upstate South Carolina, attracts visitors and perhaps new residents. We have been very encouraged by the “iwasblownaway” economic development campaign. The Golf Channel will once again air these commercial spots that showcase the beauty, culture and innovation that lies within the Upstate region. Also be on the lookout for more testimonials as we continue to discover the magic of the area. The BMW Charity Pro-Am Golf Tournament will be held Thursday through Sunday at Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, Thornblade Country Club in Greenville and Bright’s Creek Country Club in Mill Spring, N.C. Join us in whatever way you can. It will be fun. You can’t miss it! Hitt
Bobby Hitt is the BMW Charity Pro-Am chairman and manager for media and public affairs at BMW Manufacturing Co. For more on the golf tournament, go to www.youcantmissit.com. For more on the Upstate, visit www.iwasblownaway.com.
