Boxer Ricky Burns Has A Charity Date 2009: Champion Coatbridge

Boxer Ricky Burns has a charity date

CHAMPION Coatbridge boxer Ricky Burns will be among the celebrity guests at a charity football match to raise money for sick children.
The Commonwealth super-featherweight champion has donated a pair of his autographed gloves to the raffle at the fun day next Sunday, May 17. Several children from Airdrie and Coatbridge are among the hundreds from all over Scotland who attend the much-anticipated annual event. The main attractions at the fun day are two football matches &ndash a youth trophy match and then a friendly between a celebrity side and a Hearts select. Former Airdrieonians captain Jimmy Sandison, Broomfield favourite Alan Lawrence and ex-manager Gary Mackay will all be in the Tynecastle side. Meanwhile the celebrity team will include ex-Albion Rovers player Mark Yardley, along with former Celtic captain Tom Boyd, ex-player and current pundit Billy Dodds and Radio Clyde commentator Peter Martin. Raffle prizes include signed Rangers and Celtic shirts, four-person tours of both Ibrox and Parkhead and a pair of Nacho Novo’s signed boots, while there will also be face painting, a clown and bouncy castle.
The fun day takes place from 11am-3.30pm at King George V Park in Wishaw, immediately beside the town’s hospital. Admission is &pound2 for adults and &pound1 for children, with the main football match kicking off at 2pm.
