Hundreds of pupils from a south Bristol school have been experiencing the sounds and colours of Africa.
Knowle Park School held an African arts week to help develop its links with two schools in Lusaka, Zambia. Deputy head teacher Andy Dewey said: “The idea is that we build links through the common language of the creative arts. “We are swapping the work that has been made, so that we have some wall hangings here from the children in Zambia and vice versa.” The youngsters worked alongside two arts graduates, who run a charity called Creative Kids International. One of them, Sian Lamprey, is a former pupil of Knowle Park and her father Steve is the school’s chairman of governors. Sian and Mia Harris have a passion for art and Africa and spent time in Zambia.
